Okami64 x Supex Magazine Interview

By Cecilie Fly Brask · On 25. september 2017

Tell about yourself
L: Im Linus. The fat one in Okami64.
R: I’m Rex. I’m the taller slightly less fat one. I sometimes have a moustache too (it’s a
bad one though)

When did music come into your life?
L: Its always been something i’ve been into. My dads a musician and i started playing
instruments super young. He made me either play sports or an instrument so i chose
drums cause i hate football.

R: I tried making music because I thought it would help my dad and I connect. We didn’t
see each other much and I don’t think he loved me. Needless to say, we haven’t spoken
in years, but I still make music. Maybe he’s reading this. Are you there dad?

How would you describe your music?
Its cool, like if an 808 fucked a Super Nintendo, that would be how we sound. We tried
to just make sounds that are cool to us and have no limitations and I love how it turned
out.

Which of your songs is your favorite?
We have a song called “Fuzz2Live” which i love. Its got this outro with Pablo from
Beach Goons singing on it and its such a nice section. Its hard to choose. All our songs
have different things i love so a favourite is kinda impossible.

We also have a song called “Oh No” that has the best rap verse of all time on it,
performed by Sushi Ceej from Ear Drummers/Two-9. It’s the greatest thing ever
recorded ever. I fucking love it.

What is the lyric you’re most proud of?
L: No specific one line. I like the lyrics on fuzz a lot. Im too self depreciating to choose
something of my own. Rex’s verse on come up tho is fire. And brevner on lavender did
amazing.
R: I like when I say “Four point oh, reading books slow, never score low”. I also like
when Linus says “watching dragon ball z with baked asians”. OH, I also like Dave’s line
“his dick look like a carrot and mine look like a cucumber” it’s mad jokes.

Name a track or artist that you think is criminally underrated.
L: Theres a dude named Richard Saunders that i love. But he’s on Chance The Rappers
tour so maybe he’s not super underrated. I wish more people knew who Koji Condo was
but maybe they do and I’m stupid i dunno. Kondo is like the greatest composer of all
time though.

R: I think Ed Sheeran definitely deserves a bigger fanbase

If you only could listen to 3 artist on your iPod for the rest of your life – who would it be?
L: I can’t answer that I would blow my head off if I could only listen to 3 people. I guess
myself so I can keep making music cuz I wouldn’t be able to if i chose 3 other people.
And Rex too cuz then Okami64 can still be a thing. And then Kanye.

R: I would pick Kanye West, Pharrell and The White Stripes. Those are my three
favourite artists of all time #funfacts

Any artists you’d like to collaborate with?
L: So many – Kanye, Mac Demarco, Pharrell, everyone in save money. I wanna do a song
with Lil Boat too that would be cool. I really like KYLE it’d be cool to make a beat for him.

R: I really want to collaborate with Sarah Bonito from Kero Kero Bonito and also this guy
called Stevie Ross from Vancouver. He’s lit.

What should your fans look forward too in the future?
L: We got lots of shows coming up, some new videos and merch and cool things.
Maybe some new music in the near-ish future. Just cool things. Here we come.

R: I wanna start a podcast…. but would anybody listen??
